Add a melodic, sculptural element to your garden with our Garden Mushroom Workshop. In this specialized session, you will create a set of three ceramic mushrooms designed not just for their looks, but for their sound. These aren’t your average garden ornaments—these are “tinkling” mushrooms. By crafting specific cap shapes and utilizing slender, hollow stems, you will learn how to balance your trio so that when the wind blows, the ceramic caps gently chime against one another. Session 1: The Build The “Tinkle” Trio: Hand-sculpt three mushrooms of varying heights. The Process: Learn to hollow out the caps and balance them on slender stems so they catch the wind and create a soft, earthy chime. Session 2: The Glaze A Splash of Color: Returning on May 31st (once your pieces have been fired for the first time), you will have a full hour to apply professional underglazes and glazes. Vibrant Finishes: Choose from a variety of glazes including earthy forest tones, bright “Fly Agaric” reds, or other shimmering glazes. Note: This is a two-part process. You will build your mushrooms in the initial 2-hour workshop on May 17th then return on May 31st for a 1-hour glazing session; your finished pieces will be ready for pickup approximately one week after the final firing.
