Turn a simple ball of clay into your favourite animal! In this fun, creative workshop, kids will learn the “magic” of clay as they transform clay into ONE adorable Animal Pinch Pot. Whether they want to make a cute puppy mug, a sleepy kitty for their treasures, a cute fish for a tiny succulent, or something else, this class is all about imagination and getting messy! Session 1: The Build Pinch Pots: We’ll start by learning how to create pinch pots to turn a ball of clay into a perfect pot —the body of our animal! Features & Faces: Kids will learn how to sculpt ears, noses, wagging tails, and paws. The “Scratch & Slip” Rule: We’ll teach the most important rule in pottery (scoring and slipping) to make sure our animals’ ears and tails don’t fall off in the kiln. Texture Time: Using stamps, sponges, and wooden tools, we’ll add fur, scales, or spots to give each critter a unique personality. Session 2: The Glaze Glazing: Participants will come back on May 17 to glaze their animals using a variety of colorful underglazes to paint their animals during the class! Note: This workshop includes an initial 1.5 to 2 hour building session on April 26th and and a follow-up 1-hour glazing session on May 17th. Your finished animal will be ready to head to its ”foreverhome” about one week after the final glazing firing.
